Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $156,425)

The goal of Montana's Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) program is to reduce juvenile offending through accountability-based initiatives focused on both the offender and the juvenile justice system. JABG funds will focus on two purpose areas (14 and 15): funding balanced and restorative justice programs that have reduced recidivism and promoting the development of restorative justice programs; and supporting programs and services that allow court staff and probation officers to be more effective and efficient in order to keep youth from further involvement and escalation into the juvenile justice system. Progress is measured through an evaluation process for each subgrant which includes quarterly reports, desk audits, and site visits. Conditions still exist that have established a waiver of the pass-through requirement to eligible units of local government. NCA/NCF
