Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $771,463)

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) serves as Illinois' designee to administer Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) funds. The FY2012 JABG funds will be used for the purpose of continuing statewide programs that implement offender-focused and system focused activities to promote accountability. During the past three years, ICJIA has designated more than 70 percent of JABG funds to units of local government. ICJIA has made a commitment to engage in close coordinated efforts with the Illinois' Juvenile Justice Commission. JABG funds will be used for programs that 1) demonstrate goals for achieving accountability for both juvenile offenders and the juvenile justice system, 2) attempt to process more than three-quarters of youth using graduating sanctions, and 3) work to reduce recidivism by program participants to less than 30 percent. Progress will measured through quarterly reports. NCA/NCF
