Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $546,251)

The New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Juvenile Justice Commission (JCC), will use its portion of the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant funds to address purpose areas (9) Juvenile Records System, (10 ) Information Sharing, (12) Risk and Needs Assessments, and (16) Detention/Correction Personnel. Purpose Area (9) will sustain the implementation of the Juvenile Automated Management System (JAMS) through software maintenance and continued modifications to enhance the system's efficiency. Purpose Area #10 will utilize laptops for the JJC Court Liaisons to maximize the quality of work. Purpose Area #12 will sustain a comprehensive screening process for juveniles entering the JJC in the areas of substance abuse, mental health and treatment. Purpose Area #16 will provide Medical Dispensing Training sessions for New Jersey Detention Center staff. The JJC will distribute 75% of the State's total award to Units of Local Government (21 County Youth Services Commissions and identified Municipalities). Each recipient must identify at least one of the seventeen JABG Purpose Area(s) in their JABG sub-grant application. The Data Collection and Technical Assistance Tool, JAMS, and annual monitoring will be used to measure the progress of the JABG subgrant recipients. NCA/NCF
