Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $249,867)

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services passes-through the required 75% of its JABG allocation to units of local government. Nevada will utilize 20% ($48,973) of its state allocation in purpose area #2: building, expanding, renovating, or operating temporary or permanent juvenile correction, detention, or community corrections facilities. This portion of the JABG funding will allow Nevada Youth Parole, Caliente Youth Center and Nevada Youth Training Center to provide psychological and mental health services that were identified at the assessment of youth admitted to the Caliente Youth Center. Additionally, this funding will allow the Juvenile Justice Programs Office of the Department of Health and Human Services to implement evidenced-based programming, quality assurance, safety and security equipment and training and quarterly on site visits and inspections. Quarterly reports are submitted by the Nevada Youth Parole Bureau, Caliente Youth Center and the Nevada Youth Training Center on all identified performance measures.
