This program is funded under the authority of the Providing Resources, Officers, and Technology to Eradicate Cyber Threats to Our Children Act of 2008, (42 USC 17601-17611, et seq.)(the PROTECT Act).
Using OJJDP funds, the San Jose Police Department will pay overtime costs for officers to conduct undercover operations to identify commercially sexually exploited (CSE) victims and traffickers. Investigations will target Bay Area online forums to identify young CSE victims of prostitution. Additionally, the San Jose Police Department will use funds to send four officers and one Sergeant to attend required training hosted by Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS). (CA/CF)
