Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $50,000)

The Title V Community Prevention Grants Program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.

The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice 2011 Title V Project will focus on providing support for the continuation of the FY 2009 funded project. This project is working to implement a restorative justice model within the school setting to address behavioral issues before they escalate to delinquent behavior. The program will serve both a middle and high school while providing training to all relevant staff. The principals of both schools are actively engaged and they are making the implementation of a restorative justice model a priority for the next school year. In addition to addressing problem behaviors within the school, the program is looking to impact positive factors such as healthy and safe school environment. NCA/NCF
