Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $50,000)

The Disproportionate Minority Contact Community and Strategic Planning Project assists states with implementing state and/or local governing boards and to conduct an assessment of the local jurisdiction(s) juvenile justice system to determine the extent of DMC and possible contributing factors to reduce, without establishing or requiring numerical standards or quotas, the disproportionate number of minority juveniles who come into contact with the juvenile justice system in based on the Community and Strategic Planning Project curriculum.

Funds will be used to implement and/or expand local advisory boards in targeted Disproportionate Minority Contact reduction sites, implement delinquency prevention and systems improvement strategies using OJJDP's DMC Reduction Model, hire and/or maintain local Coordinator(s) in the targeted reduction sites, and assist selected evaluators with the process evaluation.
