The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice intends to use Formula grant funds to address Disproportionate Minority Contact by educating and training stakeholders and listening to the youth most affected. The State will also provide aftercare services to youth who are released from commitment programs; gender specific services to address the unique needs of girls; safe school services to offer alternatives to referring youth to the juvenile system from schools; and compliance monitoring services to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) Funds. It is Florida's intent to coordinate these efforts to fulfill the State's mission to turn around the lives of troubled youth. The required performance measurement data will be collected and reported.
