Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $100,000)
OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations. This program is authorized by the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011, Pub. L. 112-110.
In the proposed project, the Center for Children's Law and Policy (CCLP) will select two jurisdictions through a rigorous and competitive application process and provide technical assistance, training, and financial support to the sites in their efforts to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in their juvenile justice systems. CCLP will use the approach to Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) reduction that has proven effective in Models for Change and DMC Action Network sites. This proposal covers Year 1 activities and budget. The population to be served is youth of color involved in or at risk of entering the juvenile justice system.
The project will select two jurisdictions and provide technical assistance, training, and financial support to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in their juvenile justice systems per Section 223(a)(22)of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended.
