Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $300,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

Delaware's Department of Homeland Security and Safety will utilize EUDL funds to address the problem of underage drinking by enforcing existing underage drinking laws; educating the public about those laws and existing prevention programs; continue activities of the underage drinking task force; provide alternative activities for youth; and, sponsor prevention services for those youth identified as being at-risk. The State will actively seek sub-grantees with new and innovative programs, continue programs proven to be effective, and will periodically review and assess data to determine necessary programming changes.
