Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $300,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, supports a comprehensive, research based strategy to reducing youth access to alcohol. Enforcement, education, and community task force activities are utilized, and include the utilization of strong partnerships with enforcement agencies throughout the State. EUDL funding is combined with other local funding to support training to standardize compliance check operations Statewide, as well as address underage drinking. The State also supports a media campaign entitled "Parents That Host", which focuses on social host laws and the consequences they bring to offenders. NCA/NCF

OJJDP's State and Community Development Awards program was established to provide grants and cooperative agreements to organizations that OJJDP has selected for funds in prior years. This program has been authorized by an Act appropriating funds for the Department of Justice.

Wisconsin's Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, will use FY13 EUDL State and Community Development Division (SCD) Invited Awards to fund the Comprehensive Alcohol Risk Reduction (CARD) program. This program allows enforcement agencies to implement a combination of strategies such as compliance checks, cops in shops, and/or party patrol deployments. The State will also use funds for public information and education related to underage drinking issues. NCA/NCF
