Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $300,000)
The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, supports a comprehensive, research based strategy to reducing youth access to alcohol. Enforcement, education, and community task force activities are utilized, and include the utilization of strong partnerships with enforcement agencies throughout the State. EUDL funding is combined with other local funding to support training to standardize compliance check operations Statewide, as well as address underage drinking. The State also supports a media campaign entitled "Parents That Host", which focuses on social host laws and the consequences they bring to offenders. NCA/NCF
