Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $59,639)
OJJDP's State and Community Development Awards program was established to provide grants and cooperative agreements to organizations that OJJDP has selected for funds in prior years. This program has been authorized by an Act appropriating funds for the Department of Justice.
The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.
The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) strives to increase statewide capacity for enforcement and prevention efforts designed to prevent and eliminate youth alcohol access. The goals and objectives of the EUDL program will be achieved through prevention, community and law enforcement partnerships that have been selected for sub grant awards through a competitive request for proposals (RFP). Progress accomplished toward the goals and objectives will be measured primarily through the changes in compliance rates of underage alcohol sales and other enforcement operations reported by law enforcement. Additional outcome measures will be captured by pre- and post-test data from law enforcement training projects as well as applicable prevention media activities conducted during a given report period that will capture the resulting impact on community norms and behaviors.
