Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $825,000)

OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations. This program is authorized by the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011, Pub. L. 112-110.

Since 1990, the National Center for Juvenile Justice (NCJJ) has worked with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to advance the Office's role as a data collector and disseminator of juvenile justice statistics. The National Juvenile Justice Data Analysis Project has significantly improved the landscape of juvenile justice statistical information available nationwide by creating a data dissemination infrastructure, including tools that are indispensable resources for informed policy decision making. The project will continue to address OJJDP's information needs in a cost-efficient manner, taking advantage of existing databases to produce empirical information on a range of topics and disseminating this information to diverse audiences. To this end, they will continue to update/expand the Statistical Briefing Book and its Easy Access data analysis tools, conduct original research, produce publications, respond to information requests, and work with OJJDP to develop new data resources. NCJJ and its subcontractor, Westat, have extensive research experience in juvenile justice issues and dissemination of research and statistical information, and a history of successful collaboration with OJJDP. To gauge the results of this work one need only look at its products, which are for the most part open to public review. Data for performance measures will be reported to OJJDP in semi-annual progress reports or as otherwise required by OJJDP. NCA/NCF
