FY2010 Maintenance and Expansion of the Model Programs Guide and SMART GIS

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP) State Relations and Assistance Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations. These awards are authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 1974, as amended.
OJJDP's Model Programs Guide is an online database of evidenced-based juvenile justice programs. It is an easy-to-use tool that enables practitioners to locate programs/strategies to implement and facilitate funders' efforts to identify proven programs on which to base their priority funding decisions. Users may sort and search for programs that cover the full range of juvenile justice services continuum from prevention to reentry in a variety of ways, including program type, risk factors of interest, client age or race, and program setting. For each program in the database, information is provided on the nature of the program, the age range it serves, the evaluation methods used, evaluation findings, references, and contact information for a lead point of contact associated with the program. This cooperative agreement award is for the maintenance and enhancement of the Guide to maximize its utility to the field. (NCA/NCF)
OJJDP has a specific mission to develop and disseminate knowledge about what works to prevent juvenile delinquency and violence and improve the effectiveness of the juvenile justice system. The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, 42 U.S.C. § 5601 et seq authorizes the Administrator of OJJDP to conduct research or evaluations and undertake statistical analyses on a wide range of juvenile justice matters. OJJDP also provides funding to states and localities to carry out research, evaluation, and statistical analyses.
Designed more than a decade ago, the OJJDP Model Programs Guide (MPG)was one of the first evidence-based repositories to address this deficiency by providing users with dynamic access to hundreds of programs. In FY 2012, the focus for Development Services Group, Inc. (DSG). will be on re-reviewing all MPG programs with the CrimeSolutions.gov rating instrument and transferring the MPG databases and Web site content to OJJDP by July 31, 2013. DSG will also support FindYouthInfo.gov and the two compliance databases, the DMC Reduction Best Practices Database and the DSO Best Practices Database through Sept. 30, 2013. CA/NCF
