Missing & Exploited Children Program Support Assistance Program

Authorized by the Missing Children's Assistance Act of 1984, the Missing and Exploited Children (MEC) Program is the primary vehicle for building an infrastructure to support the national effort to prevent the abduction and exploitation of children. This program is authorized under Section 405 of Title IV of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended.
Under this award, Fox Valley Technical College will provide planning and logistical support to facilitate this training effort. The awardee will: implement a strategic plan for responding to a wide range of technical assistance requests; coordinate logistics and provide onsite meeting management support to OJJDP, including the annual Missing Children's Day activities; develop and maintain a uniform, systematic evaluation process that enables OJJDP to assess user satisfaction with services in terms of promptness, quality of technical assistance, and resources; develop, expand, and regularly update a MEC web site; and complete other projects as directed by OJJDP. Using OJJDP funds the FY 2012 Child Protection Programs Grants will continue to support the national effort to prevent the abduction and exploitation of children through training,technical assistance, and support. Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) will provide targeted
training and technical assistance, support a Missing and Exploited Children's Website, develop documents, assess constituent needs, monitor feedback, and manage activities relating to the National Missing Childrens Day. FVTC will also apply its extensive project management experience and expertise to produce monthly reports and support special projects and activities.
Throughout the project period, FVTC will work with OJJDP to identify and implement
strategies to improve capacity, increase involvement, develop effective solutions, and ensure ongoing dialogue between OJJDP and its constituents. The ultimate goal is to increase collaboration and create a community-centric focus while ensuring that OJJP funds are spent in a manner that avoids waste, fraud and abuse.
