The AMBER Alert program is a partnership of law enforcement, broadcaster/media, transportation agencies, emergency management agencies, telecommunications/call centers, other public safety agencies, and child protection organizations and professionals dedicated to recovering endangered missing and abducted children. The National AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program serves to increase the nations capacity to respond to incidents of endangered missing and abducted children. This program is authorized under Section 405 of the Missing Childrens Act, which is Title IV of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended (42 U.S.C. 5771 et seq.), and the Protect Our Children Act of 2008, 42 U.S.C. 17601 et seq. as well as 42 U.S.C. 5791c. The grantee and its partners, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), in cooperation with OJJDP, will design, develop, and deliver project services in support of the AMBER Alert network. Activities include training programs, a national symposium, distance learning deliveries and technical assistance events for the target audience of law enforcement agencies, child protection professionals, broadcasters, AMBER Alert Coordinators, Child Abduction Response Team (CART) Coordinators, and others concerned with child abduction and victimization to meet short-term and intermediate outcomes of improved capacity, capabilities, skills and response to incidents of missing, endangered and abducted children. Outcomes will be measured through online systems, pre-, post-, program and impact evaluations.
