Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $575,000)
This program is funded under the authority of the Providing Resources, Officers, and Technology to Eradicate Cyber Threats to Our Children Act of 2008, (42 USC 17611-17617, et seq.)(The PROTECT Act).
Search Inc. will provide ICAC Task Force investigators training on investigating cellular telephones and devices, wireless networks, peer-to-peer file sharing, and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. SEARCH will develop and deliver online courses training programs as well as provide courses through traditional classroom presentations. Additionally, Search, Inc. will develop relevant white papers that address emerging technologies and their application to child exploitation and/or investigate those technologies. (CA/NCF)
Using OJJDP funds, SEARCH will provide a total of four hands-on classroom offerings of Core Skills for the Investigation of Cellular Devices, Advanced Responders Search, and Seizure of Networks. Additionally, SEARCH will provide six offerings of the TLO Child Predator System Peer-to-Peer Investigations course and six offerings of Social Networking Sites: Investigative Tools and Techniques. SEARCH will also provide online course offerings of both the Social Networking Sites: Investigative Tools and Techniques course and a new course currently under development to train investigators in the e-learning environment.
