Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $84,945)

This program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is the designated State agency to receive Title V funds in the State of North Dakota. It is estimated that the North Dakota Juvenile Justice State Advisory Group (SAG) will select two or three subgrantees to utilize the FY 2010 title V allocation to North Dakota to implement and develop prevention activities. Given that no previous subgrantee is eligible for continuation funding, the award will be to a new grantee. Given that the SAG has made evidenced-based programming one of three top priorities for funding, applicants that focus on implementation of an evidenced-based program will be given additional points in the grants review scoring process.
