Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $84,945)
This program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.
The State of Kentucky plans to fund two awards with Title V funds to allow for the continuity of services to youth and support development of infrastructures that are more conducive to sustainability of a program.
Program Areas to be addressed through these funds (may include, but are not limited to):
a. Children of incarcerated parents (#04)
b. Delinquency Prevention (#09)
c. Gang Prevention (#12)
d. Gender-specific programs (#13)
e. Mentoring (#21)
f. Rural Area juvenile programs (#26)
g. School programs (#27)
h. Substance abuse (#32)
i. Youth courts (#34).
The distribution of funds will be determined through a competitive bidding process; open to all counties of the Commonwealth who have not exhausted their three (3) years of eligibility for Title V funding.
