Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $84,945)

This program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.

The Governor's Division for Children and the Arizona Juvenile Justice Commission is seeking to use 5% of the Title V grant award for administrative costs. Governor Brewer's Office for Children, Youth and Families will match 50% of the administrative costs with cash or in-kind contributions.

All remaining Title V funds will be passed through to local units of government or a combination thereof, based on a competitive process. In addition, all Title V funds will be matched by the recipient local units of government with 50% of the amount of the grant. This match may be provided in cash or the value of in-kind contributions or services. Grants are made for a one-year basis with opportunities for up to two one-year renewals in accordance with the three-year funding period for Title V funds.
