Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $400,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Florida Venture Foundation's Youthbuild Outreach program aims to assist disadvantaged young adults in distressed communities complete high school education, provide vocational and technical training, foster leadership skills, further opportunities for career placement and promote economic self-sufficiency. Youthbuild Outreach focuses on the reduction of juvenile delinquency by reducing habitual truancy which leads to school drop, and increasing youth employment. Florida Venture Foundation will report on performance measures such as number of participating youth who offend, who exhibit targeted behavior change, and who successfully complete the program.
