Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $1,000,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

The Maryland Youth Services Bureaus' proposed project will enable Youth Services Bureaus (YSB) to provide early intervention and prevention services and to divert Maryland's youth from involvement in the juvenile justice system. Funds will be utilized to increase prevention and diversion services to youth and their families in the 10 jurisdictions currently served by YSBs. An Executive Director and support staff person will be hired for MAYSB to coordinate statewide efforts and to expand the network of Youth Services Bureaus throughout the State of Maryland. Funding also will be used to develop a statewide data collection and evaluation system. NCA/NCF
