Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $200,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

In order to help at-risk underserved youth in Harvey, Illinois and the surrounding communities avoid destructive behaviors and help them improve academically, achieve academic success, improve scores on standardized tests, and identify and develop their talents, Restoration Ministries is expanding Project Intercept, its youth development and gang prevention program. The purpose of Restoration Ministries' Project Intercept is to provide youth in grades K - 12 constructive, productive programs during non-school hours as alternatives to the negative influences in their lives.
