Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $500,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Watson Children's Shelter is dedicated to providing emergency shelter in a safe, nurturing environment to children who are victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment or family crisis, while further ensuring that every child receives access to quality health care and education. The Western Montana Children's Safety Initiative will enable each child to receive an individualized plan to address their severely neglected medical, dental, psychological, behavioral, and educational needs, combined with a collaborative team approach to develop a more permanent long term placement plan for each child.
