Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $200,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

The Childhelp Childrens Center of Virginia (CCCV) proposes to extend the continuum of care for abused and neglected children through improved crisis intervention and support services that address the safety and emotional needs of child victims and their non-offending family members. Funding will be used to expand the victim and family advocacy program, as well as mental health services in order to more fully serve the children and families dealing with child abuse in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia. The CCCV will target a population of child victims of abuse, neglect, and trauma, ages 3-18, and their non-offending family members. The programs goals are to increase protective factors for child abuse victims by reducing the incidence and severity of child abuse, improve the investigation process by minimizing re-victimization, and provide mental health services that promote healing.
