Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $300,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Childhelps Mobile Advocacy Center of Northern Arizona proposes to increase capacity, expand service availability, and provide access to services for victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members in Northern Arizona. The programs goal is to reduce victim trauma, improve the investigation process by minimizing re-victimization, and provide support services. Funds will be used to 1) enhance services to tribal reservations by increasing service capacity; 2) expand the Mobile Advocacy Centers geographic area to include Gila County; and 3) develop on-line Mandatory Reporter training modules for each county. The Mobile Unit serves child victims of abuse, neglect, and trauma, ages 5-17, and their non-offending family members.
