Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $400,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Poughkeepsie At-Risk Youth Project addresses the community's urgent need for assistance in providing effective and meaningful intervention and preventive services for its youth. The goal of the program is to create, coordinate, and support a consortium of ten grassroots programs sponsored by agencies in the City of Poughkeepsie that will work directly with over 600 youth. These programs offer a range of activities that are proven strategies for promoting positive outcomes such as school achievement, high school graduation, job readiness, and prevention of criminal behaviors. Each program has developed strategies and activities. NCA/NCF
