Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $350,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Ohel Children's Home and Family Services (Ohel) will implement several non-stigmatizing, community based prevention and intervention services including:
teacher training programs on at-risk behavior and prevention-wellness, school-based services, including workshops for students and individual counseling, and community outreach and education on topics related to at-risk behaviors. Anticipated goals achieved via this program include prevention and remediation of at-risk behavior via (1) improved social skills; (2) improved self-esteem; (3) improved knowledge of risks; and (4) the formation of a positive relationship with an adult role model.
