Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $90,000)

The OJJDP FY 10 Earmarks Program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366 at 702-714.

Greater Norristown Police Athletic League (PAL) will continue to implement programs that address issues and provide positive experiences for youth between the ages of 5-18 on a year round basis. PAL works with area law enforcement to provide a well-balanced program of educational, recreational and arts activities. PAL will serve 850 youth in track, boxing, wrestling, family nights, basketball camp, tutoring and summer programs. These activities will support reductions in juvenile offending among participants, increase school participation and performance, and provide more opportunities for staff and volunteer training to ensure quality programs. PAL will continue to use a series of tools that will help to evaluate their performance and progress with all programs. These tools will be used with participants and parents to determine the success. NCA/NCF
