Through the National Girls Institute (NGI) established in 2010, OJJDP seeks to advance the understanding and application of promising and evidence-based prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare programs and services for delinquent and at-risk girls. The goals of the project are to advance understanding of girls' issues and improve program and system responses. These goals will be achieved by increasing practitioner and policymaker knowledge about policies and practices that negatively impact girls, improving policies and practices at the programmatic and system levels, and increasing access and satisfaction with relevant resources. The NGI will provide a broad range of services, including training and technical assistance; information dissemination; collaboration with researchers and program developers; partnership with federal, state, and local agencies; policy development; and other leadership functions. The grantee will expand advocacy, research, training, and technical assistance efforts to remedy systemic issues that result in disparate treatment of justice involved girls. Project activities will include conducting training and technical (TTA) needs assessments; developing standards; and providing resources, gender-responsive training and specialized technical assistance. Progress will be measured through database tracking, training/workshops pre/post testing, and recipient/stakeholder technical assistance satisfaction and evaluation surveys. CA/NCF
The National Girls Institute (NGI) will expand its training and technical assistance (TTA) services and dissemination of resources to improve program and system responses to girls in the juvenile justice system and girls at risk of entering the system. The NGI will expand the delivery of gender-responsive TTA; research and publish briefing reports; serve as a clearinghouse of information through multiple communication networks; convene the NGI Advisory Board; and expand its pool of expert consultants. Progress will be measured by tracking developed materials, training and technical assistance engagements, number of regional trainings and other events, and recipient/stakeholder technical assistance evaluation survey results.
