Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $1,875,000)
Through the Byrne Congressionally Mandated Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010.
NCJFCJ will use these funds to c continue the Model Courts project, a national program serving all children in foster care by improving court practice, improving child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and enhancing cross-system and community collaboration. The Model Courts project has provided and will continue to provide judicial, legal, social service, and other system professionals with tailored and targeted training and technical assistance needed to meet the challenges faced by children in the abuse and neglect and delinquency systems.
