Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $300,000)

Through the Byrne Congressionally Mandated Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010.

ZERO TO THREE, on behalf of the Des Moines Court Team for Maltreated Infants and Toddlers, will support the work of the Des Moines Court Team for Maltreated Infants and Toddlers. ZERO TO THREE is providing training, technical assistance, and support. A project database has been developed to allow staff to record the types of services received by parents and children, the number of reunifications, the frequency of parent-child contact, and length of time until permanency. Ultimately the Des Moines Court Team hopes to reduce the recurrence of child maltreatment among the families served.
