Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $850,000)
Through the Byrne Congressionally Mandated Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010.
YWCA of greater Flint will assist youth in the transition from foster care to independent living by providing support systems that empower youth to set and achieve goals in education and employment. The target population is young women in Genesee County, Michigan, who have recently exited from the foster care system, who are employed or actively seeking employment, and are willing to attend school.
