Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Office of Highway Safety, will manage a statewide EUDL program to serve youth and young adults under age 21 by supporting youth alcohol prevention coalitions; providing public education on underage drinking and driving; and supporting innovative programs to prevent and combat underage drinking. Progress can be measured through DC-TAT reports, as well as youth traffic crash reports and analysis of biannual surveys provided to high school youth. NCA/NCF
