Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of Delaware will utilize funds to attack the problem of underage drinking by enforcing existing underage drinking laws; educating the public about those laws and existing prevention programs; continuing activities of the underage drinking task force; providing alternative activities for youth; as well as providing prevention services for those youth identified as being at-risk. These projects and issues will be addressed by actively seeking sub-grantees with new and innovative programs, continuing programs proven to be effective, and by periodically reviewing and assessing data to determine necessary programming changes.
