Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of Kansas EUDL strategy aims to enforce the law and educate students on the perils associated with underage drinking through the following activities: ' Grants will be established with local law enforcement to enforce and educate teens on the dangers of underage drinking and drinking and driving; ' Aggressive media campaign that will deter under age drinking throughout the state; ' Continue to be a part of the Kansas Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free committee; ' Continue to sponsorship of the annual Youth Leadership Summit whose efforts work to deter underage drinking by educating community groups of teens on ideas they can implement in their own community.
