Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

Connecticut's 2010 EUDL Program will focus on limiting youths' access to alcohol by directing efforts at two target populations'liquor establishments and parents and other adults. Law enforcement activities will involve compliance checks or minors-in-stings operations. The State will also fund a media campaign that will focus on parents and other adults with messages on Connecticut's social host law and on the impact of alcohol on the developing brain. NCA/NCF
