Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)
The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.
Tennessee's Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) funds are intended for intervention in underage drinking practices at the local and state levels. The target populations served are youth ages 5-20 years old in settings such as juvenile courts, schools, low-income housing, driver's education classes, after school programs, Teen Alternative Learning Centers, and college campuses. Funds will also be used for collaborative efforts with law enforcement, community agencies, merchants, bartenders, parents, and local beer boards.
The State will fund evidence-based programs to educate youth on the dangers of drinking and driving, date rape and violence while drinking, and to develop public service announcements using television ads, billboards, and radio. NCA/NCF
