Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $125,498)

OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Continuation Grants program was established to provide grants and cooperative agreements to organizations that OJJDP has selected for funds in prior years. This program will be authorized by an Act appropriating funds for the Department of Justice.

The Center for Network Development (CND) will implement the National Juvenile Information Sharing (JIS) Initiative, the updated JIS Guidelines, and the Juvenile Justice XML Data Model (JJXDM). The purpose of the National JIS Initiative is to improve procedures and policies of information sharing across state and local agencies, and youth and family serving community organizations. CND will assess potential new sites for demonstration and implementation of the National JIS Initiative model.

Progress towards goals and objectives will be measured by comparing the implementation of the National JIS model at both local and state levels. Through an analysis of data captured in decision matrices, activity and participation logs, MOU tracking, meeting evaluations, and surveys of key stakeholders participating in the process, the process evaluation will identify barriers to implementation of the JIS Guidelines and successful strategies used by the local and state sites that may be replicable by other jurisdictions. Project success will be determined by the completion of JIS Guidelines and the ability to progress with the data exchanges using the JJXDM.
