Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $399,995)
OJJDP FY 09 Demonstration Programs Division Grants was established to provide grants, cooperative agreements and other assistance to organizations designated by OJJDP, as authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 2002 (42 U.S.C. Sections 5601 et seq.) and statutes appropriating funds for juvenile justice programs.
The Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Project (LETTAP) will increase the capacity of law enforcement and allied juvenile justice professionals to address juvenile victimization, delinquency, and crime. The IACP will accomplish this by 1) educating law enforcement on priority juvenile justice issues; 2) encouraging the development of innovative and effective prevention and/or intervention programs and strategies; 3) promoting multi-agency partnerships; and 4) improving law enforcement's effectiveness in enhancing public safety. The project intends to serve a minimum of 300 law enforcement and juvenile justice stakeholders representing over 100 agencies. Progress will be measured by the number of participants and agencies served and the impact on their abilities to reduce juvenile delinquency as measured by the collection of training feedback and impact evaluation data.
