Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $150,000)

Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Congressionally Recommended Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Text and Joint Explanatory Statement, Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009.

The KidSafe project seeks to provide rural, vulnerable, abused children with more rapid access to medical care through a statewide telenet system to connect medical experts and eighteen Child Advocacy Centers throughout the state with limited or no access to qualified medical personnel. These systems will provide access to peer reviews, case consultations, and training via a statewide telemedicine network. NCA/NCF
