Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $300,000)

Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Congressionally Recommended Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Text and Joint Explanatory Statement, Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009.

Using this federal award, ZERO TO THREE will continue working with the New Haven Team for Maltreated Infants and Toddlers. The goal of the Team is to increase the knowledge and skills of community stakeholders so that the New Haven community better meets the needs of maltreated infants and toddlers and their families involved in the child welfare system. Ultimately the project aims to reduce the recurrence of child maltreatment among the families served.
