Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of New Mexico will use EUDL funds for coummunity-based contracts for innovative programs, implementation of best practices and evidence-based prevention and education strategies; statewide enforcement activities on retail compliance checks, community events, private parties and border areas; and media campaigns, public information initiatives and merchant education.
