Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

Mississippi's FY 2009 EUDL program funds will be used to assist Mississippi agencies, coalitions, task forces and other innovative programs reduce underage alcohol consumption and alcohol related motor vehicle crashes, increase enforcement, enhance educational efforts and awareness through public advertising and other innovative methods. EUDL efforts for the state of Mississippi will continue to focus on and serve youth as well as parents, units of state and local government, non-profit organizations, teachers, and communities.
