Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of Rhode Island will contract with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to manage and administer innovative program initiatives, RI Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Advisory Committee, statewide youth underage advisory coalition, technical assistance to local communities on underage drinking laws enforcement strategies and public education and media. Funds will also be used for local police departments to conduct enforcement and alcohol purchase surveys.
