Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of Massachusetts plans to provide program funding to support underage drinking enforcement efforts throughout the State by implementing several activities including: funding a number of local and campus police law enforcement agencies that will conduct a variety of underage drinking enforcement operations, supporting efforts by the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) for a Liquor Enforcement Program, and continuing to fund a higher education pilot project at the Berklee College of Music for underage drinking prevention efforts.
