Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

Specifically, the State of Oklahoma intends to utilize EUDL funds to address two long standing gaps in the state's underage drinking prevention efforts ' consistent and visible enforcement of youth access to alcohol laws and youth engagement in prevention. OK Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse will build upon the foundation established by the EUDL program, known as 2much2lose (2M2L), administered previously by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office through the implementation of an environmental prevention approach that includes data collection and application, community organizing, policy development, enforcement, and media advocacy.
