Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $360,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

Hawaii will sub-contract with the County Police Departments of Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii for enforcement activities. The State will also sub-contract with the Department of Defense, Hawaii Army National Guard to oversee state and county Hawaii Partnerships to Prevent Underage Drinking Coalitions with task forces focusing on media, policy, education, and enforcement.
