Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $499,993)

The Fire Lodge Tribal Youth Program will provide delinquency prevention services such as school-based drug and alcohol prevention, life skills and truancy prevention in the local school districts. Parenting education will also be offered to young parents. At the end of the designated planning year, the program will provide an after-school program designed for youth ages thirteen and older, which will allow participants to gain knowledge, understanding, and the skills necessary for transition to adulthood. The FireLodge Tribal Youth Program is being proposed by the Citizen Potawatomi Nation to support and increase the tribal efforts to decrease juvenile delinquency and increase drug and alcohol prevention services for tribal youth in Pottawatomie County. The FireLodge Tribal Youth Program will serve all tribal juveniles from the ages of 12 to 17 years of age. In addition, a summer day camp will be offered. CA/NCF
