AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program

This project will supplement current activities under the AMBER Alert National Training and Technical Assistance program to increase child protection efforts in American Indian/Alaska Native communities. The project will deliver a two and one-half day national symposium for approximately 250 participants on child abuse and exploitation of Native American children, including the design and development of the agenda, curriculum and related symposium materials in coordination with OJP and OJJDP. The symposium will accomplish the following: 1) identify specific problems and issues in Indian Country related to the scope and scale of child safety, including abuse, neglect, exploitation and incidents of missing, endangered and abducted children; 2) provide educational and resource materials to establish an understanding of best practices for reporting, investigating, responding to, interdicting and suppressing child abuse and exploitation; and 3) develop specific action plans for participating tribal communities to implementation a comprehensive approach to addressing child safety.
